Graphite, Charcoal, Watercolor August - December 2023
The following drawings were created as odes to home: to the women that raise me, the animals that watch over me, and the fibers that tether me. This was my first time working ‘large scale’ in graphite and charcoal. I loved playing with the mediums in tandem and seeing what values they created together and apart. Thank you to Professor Cameron Barker for guiding my practice and for introducting me to so many female artists, queer artists, and artists of color. Thank you for being an inspiration and for giving me more too.

“They confront each other in an amiguous stare-off, the hen turned away from the viewer. As your gaze refocuses on the bold pencil strokes, the subjects come together in a blending of the senses, similar to how memories change with age and time.”
